CenterPoint Energy
Lead IT Architect

CenterPoint Energy
1111 Louisiana Street, Houston, TX 77002

As a Lead IT Architect with CenterPoint Energy, I was responsible for the technical direction of the Portal, Web and Mobility applications development team based in Houston and Shreveport. This team delivers and maintains custom solutions using the full Microsoft technology stack with a focus on ASP.NET, SharePoint and SQL Server.

My lead responsibilities for this team ranged from mentoring other developers to participating in candidate interviews. However, I was also a hands-on programmer and was fully responsible for the development of CNP’s new fleet management web application. This app is an HTML5/CSS3/jQuery web front-end to SAP’s PM module. Development activities included extending jQuery UI to create custom widgets that have real-time SAP data sources, creating ASP.NET web services to wrap the SAP .NET Connector and verifying SAP RFC functionality using the ABAP Workbench.

Among my other development accomplishments I successfully upgraded classic ASP/JSP web applications to .NET 4.x including a web app to dynamically generate OpenXML Office documents for consumption by our competitive retailers and customers.

DYONYX (US DoD)
Software Developer

DYONYX (US DoD Contractor – Corpus Christi Army Depot)
308 Crecy Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78419

Creation and deployment of custom SharePoint web parts including real-time search, retrieval and display of the company’s Active Directory organizational structure by recursively querying AD and building a derived tree view of the company’s organizational structure.

Development of a project tracking SharePoint site template adopted as company standard. Advanced XSLT, XPATH, CAML, JavaScript/jQuery and Ajax used to simulate relational integrity, generate dynamic graphs, create custom item edit pages with pre-filled input columns and to develop drill-down summary reports with user selectable filtering across multiple lists.

Conversion and migration of custom WSS 2.0 applications to MOSS 2007. This site automates document coordination, routing and tracking of purchase requests. To facilitate migration, seventy-seven individual departmental views were replaced with one custom code page. This allowed the creation of dynamic navigation and master pages based on user editable lists.

OGE Energy Corp
Lead Developer

OGE Energy Corp
P.O. Box 321, Oklahoma City, OK 73101-0321

As Lead Developer for OG&E’s .NET development team, I held complete responsibility for the development and maintenance of OGE Online Services. This system processed over one million online payment transactions each year while providing OG&E’s electric customers with an easy to use, secure online system for a variety of customer self-service functions. The creation of OGE Online Services required skills in ASP.NET, SAP ABAP, SAP’s connector for .NET, SAP and .NET web service development, advanced SQL Server programming, IIS administration, and COM/.NET component development.

System Watch™ is OG&E’s real-time, online outage information system. For more than five years, I had responsibility for the development, maintenance and upgrade of this high visibility, customer facing information system. Local news media feature System Watch during their severe weather programming in order to apprise the public of outages in the OG&E service area; thus, System Watch must be up and running 24/7. This system involves in-house development of ASP and ASP.NET web applications, dynamic XML data feeds for eSiteful’s Macromedia Flash application, IIS configuration to accept real-time, secure posts of weather radar maps from Unisys and SQL Server procedures to import data from OG&E’s Oracle based Outage Management System.

I also led the development efforts for a wide variety of system integrations and interfaces. These include integration of OGE HR systems with SilkRoad HR Solutions using the EPrise API, custom .NET web services and components to interface SAP with ArcFM GIS, and integration of Equifax eIDverifier and PosID (MultiVision) with internal ASP.NET web and VB.NET desktop applications. During my time with OGE, I developed a multitude of web services, COM/.NET components, Windows services, scheduled console applications and SQL Server jobs to move data between OGE systems and vendors as varied as Direct Options, GE Wind Farm Systems and SiteHawk MSDS Solutions. Additionally, I developed custom web parts to pull vendor data into SharePoint and developed client applications to interface with SharePoint lists and workflows via SharePoint web services and the object model.

Successful leadership of a six member .NET development team is another responsibility I fulfilled while at OGE Energy Corp. In addition to being the technical lead, my duties included participation in interviewing and hiring candidates, employee performance evaluations, budgeting requests for team resources and coordination of on-campus and off-shore contract resources. I was responsible for cross-team and interdepartmental coordination and management of development projects to upgrade legacy web applications and migration of SQL and IIS web servers. I was also the first-call contact for non-IT business units due to my ability to effectively communicate with business leaders about highly technical issues in a readily understandable manner.
